250 word opinion piece on one of the four areas of the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020 blog........

Through various programs and clubs that our districts' campus's offer, I am pleased to announce that our campus has had a variety of milestones from which it has achieved and heralded. The Pasadena ISD is in full force to make all its campuses 21st Century Learning institutions by installing at least 1 unit of the following devices: promethean board , active board responder system (clickers), projector , adequate updated desktop computer, document cameras(elmos) and scanner and printer.
With the assistance of technology and grant writing, our campus has been awarded a 250,000.00 solar panel project that will reduce our campus's energy expendenditure by more than 50 %. With this in mind, campus administrators plan on utilizing the money saved for other technology purposes. We had a great deal of students who want to study computer drafting/engineering graphics as well as journalism/video-editing at the college and university level due to the campus's closed-circuit programming that students administer. This paticular daily pre-recorded and live segment provides school news and current events(Planet Rayburn).
I understand that sometimes funding can be an issue, but with proper grant writing many positive milestones can be achieved. Although as an educator I would like to see more student computer stations in the classrooms and would like for the administration or district policy to change regarding the use of electrical devices during class. These devices can be a positive tool if used appropriately and feel that there is work to be done from this perspective.
